The steam boat, the S/S Tarjanne sailing on the Poet's Way stops at Ruovesi every other day on the way from Tampere to Virrat or, on following days, from Virrat to Tampere. There is no traffic on Mondays. To celebrate her 90th anniversary in 1998, Tarjanne was restored to virtually original condition. At the boat terminal there is a lakeside museum with collections including the Hirvi and the Vasa, two traditional churchgoing boats with multiple pairs of oars. The Vasa is still used during the summer.

Additionally, the boat terminal includes a guest marina with a wide variety of services:
